Our verdict

Aircall earns its rating as the AI-forward phone system for sales and support teams: voice, SMS and WhatsApp in one workspace, 250+ native integrations, and plans from $30/license/mo billed annually. The three-license minimum and metered AI minutes are the main watch-outs.

Aircall is an AI-powered customer communications platform for sales and support teams: a cloud business phone system that unifies voice, SMS/MMS and WhatsApp in one shared workspace, with AI agents and real-time coaching layered on top. Founded in 2014 inside the Paris startup studio eFounders (now Hexa), the company is headquartered in New York and Paris, says it has raised about $226M including a $120M Series D in 2021, and reports more than 23,000 businesses across 100+ countries as customers.

The phone system itself covers IVR menus, skills-based and smart routing, call queuing with callback, monitoring and recording, plus a power dialer and outbound campaigns for sales teams. Three AI layers sit above it: an AI Voice Agent that answers and resolves inbound calls autonomously (its voice AI strengthened by the May 2026 Vogent acquisition), AI Messaging Agents that handle SMS and WhatsApp conversations, and AI Assist and AI Assist

Three AI layers sit above it: an AI Voice Agent that answers and resolves inbound calls autonomously (its voice AI strengthened by the May 2026 Vogent acquisition), AI Messaging Agents that handle SMS and WhatsApp conversations, and AI Assist and AI Assist Pro for live guidance, transcription, summaries and automated call scoring. Aircall’s real differentiator remains integration depth: 250+ native integrations, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Intercom and Pipedrive, plus a public API and webhooks. Apps run on web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and the platform is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, with a HIPAA BAA available.

Pricing, verified on the official pricing page in October 2026, is license-based with a three-license minimum and 25% off for annual billing. AI Voice Agents start at a $100 per month minimum. Essentials is $30 per license per month on annual billing with unlimited US and Canada calling, SMS and MMS, a shared inbox, IVR and 50 AI Voice Agent minutes per month. Professional is $50 per license per month and adds AI call summaries, smart routing, queue callback and the power dialer. Enterprise is custom-priced. A 7-day free trial is offered (official: aircall.io/c/free-trial and the Aircall support article on the 7-day trial).

Watch-outs: the three-license minimum prices out solo founders and very small teams; AI Voice Agent minutes are metered, so heavy automation pushes costs up quickly; SMS works in 14 countries and MMS only for US, Canadian and Australian numbers; the advertised rates require an annual commitment; and support runs through a portal rather than a published email address.

Overall, Aircall is one of the strongest options in this category for SMB and mid-market sales and support teams that want voice, SMS and WhatsApp with deep CRM logging and genuinely useful AI. Buyers wanting a broader unified-communications suite or month-to-month flexibility should also compare RingCentral, Dialpad and Nextiva.

Not ideal for

  • Solo founders and two-person teams (three-license minimum)

  • Buyers who need toll-free MMS outside the US
  • Canada and Australia
  • Shoppers wanting the advertised rates on month-to-month billing
