What is Nextly?

Mobile task planning with energy check-ins and one suggested next step Nextly is an iPhone and Android task app that suggests one next step instead of making you work through a long list alone.

Our verdict

Nextly is useful when choosing where to start is harder than capturing the task. Energy check-ins and a suggested next step keep personal planning small. The one-time US price and exports are strengths, but voice and optional AI work use cloud providers and iOS lacks the Android widget. This is a source-based review, not an install or import test.

Nextly is an iPhone and Android task app that suggests one next step instead of making you work through a long list alone. You capture tasks, choose a daily priority and record your energy level. The app uses that context to suggest what to do next, while leaving the final choice to you.

It fits personal planning more than team project delivery. If deciding where to start is harder than writing the task down, Nextly’s small focus view may help. It is not a replacement for shared project boards, complex dependencies or a calendar that manages a whole team’s availability.

Capture, check in and focus

Tasks can be entered as text or captured by voice. The app description covers schedules, categories, effort or energy levels, reminders and Today, Upcoming and Someday views. Its published iPhone screenshots show a daily priority alongside other tasks and an energy check-in that ranges from very low to very high.

The website describes a reset for days that go off plan and suggestions matched to your current capacity. That can mean choosing a quick win rather than forcing a deep-work task. These are planning aids, not clinical measurements of energy or medical advice. AI suggestions and transcriptions can be wrong; review the saved task and decide what is useful.

Bring tasks in and keep an exit route

Nextly advertises imports from Todoist and Notion and exports in JSON or CSV. Import support should not be read as continuous two-way sync: the sources describe bringing tasks over, not keeping every change mirrored across apps. Export gives you a copy to keep if you change tools.

An Android home-screen widget shows today’s focus. The official website says that widget is not available on iOS yet. The current Apple listing requires iOS 15.1 or later and describes an iPhone app. Platform-specific features may differ; check the listing for your device before buying.

One-time pricing and the trial

The official US price is $17.99 for Lifetime access, also listed as a Lifetime Unlock purchase on Apple’s US store. The website and terms describe a seven-day trial without payment information, followed by a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. Local prices depend on your store and region. A free download with an in-app purchase is not a permanent free plan.

The terms describe a 14-day money-back guarantee for direct purchases. App Store and Google Play refunds follow their respective store processes instead. The website currently sends visitors to those stores; do not assume the direct-purchase guarantee applies to a store purchase. Lifetime access is still subject to the service terms and changing features, not a promise that hosted services will operate forever.

Privacy and cloud processing

Nextly is operated by Eagle Africa Trading and Distribution Corporation, whose published address is in Menlo Park, California. Its policy says it does not sell tasks or use advertising trackers. That does not make the app offline or free of data collection: account details, task content, purchase entitlements, usage data and diagnostics are covered by its policies and Apple’s privacy labels.

Voice clips pass through the backend and an AI transcription provider. Nextly says audio on its own servers is deleted within 60 seconds after transcription; the resulting task text stays in the account. OpenAI is listed for transcription and suggestions. Optional suggestions may send task text or metadata to an AI model. Provider handling follows provider terms, so the short audio window should not be treated as a guarantee that all third-party records disappear at the same time.

The retention policy allows AI request or response logs for up to 30 days where kept for debugging. Account deletion, backups, transaction records and legal obligations have separate retention rules. Avoid putting private client details into voice capture or AI suggestions unless you are comfortable with that processing.

AppsInsight assessment

Our review uses the current official website, privacy policy, terms, retention policy and Apple listing, including genuine iPhone interface images. We did not install the app, test voice accuracy, purchase Lifetime access or verify imports. The focused next-step approach and one-time price are its main strengths. Cloud AI processing, platform differences and limited evidence of long-term reliability are the main cautions.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Nextly cost?
The official US Lifetime price is $17.99 as a one-time purchase, also shown on Apple's US listing. There is no recurring subscription. Local App Store or Google Play prices can vary; a free download is not a permanent free plan.
Which platforms are supported?
Nextly is available for iPhone and Android. The current Apple listing requires iOS 15.1 or later. The Android focus widget is not currently available on iOS, according to the website.
Does voice capture stay on my device?
No. Voice clips go to Nextly's backend and an AI transcription provider. The policy names OpenAI and says audio on Nextly's servers is deleted within 60 seconds after transcription. Task text is retained; provider terms and other retention rules still apply.
Can I import or export tasks?
The website advertises Todoist and Notion imports plus JSON and CSV exports. These sources do not establish continuous two-way synchronization. We did not test migration fidelity.
Can I get a refund?
Direct purchases have a stated 14-day money-back guarantee. Apple and Google purchases follow their respective store refund processes, so do not assume the direct guarantee applies to an in-app purchase.
Is there a free trial?
The website and terms describe seven days without payment information. Lifetime access is a separate one-time purchase after the trial. We did not activate or test the trial.
