Full review

Mastra is a TypeScript framework for building AI agents, plus a hosted platform to run and watch them. In code you define agents (instructions, model, tools), typed workflows with steps, retries and branches, memory, and a server. The site also lists a harness for multi-mode agents with shared state, which it says is the same one behind Mastra Code, and tooling for MCP.

The hosted side is built around observability. The Mastra Platform shows traces, metrics and logs for each agent run, and an evals area has experiments, scorers and datasets so you can score runs on things like correct tool choice. The GitHub repo (mastra-ai/mastra) showed 28.6k stars on the site when I checked.

Platform pricing is usage based. Starter is $0 a month with 100K observability events, 24 CPU hours and 15 days of retention. Teams is $250 a month with 1M events, 250 CPU hours, 6 months

Teams is $250 a month with 1M events, 250 CPU hours, 6 months of retention, SSO and SOC 2 docs. Enterprise is custom. A Self-Hosted option is listed separately, and gateway tokens are billed at market rate plus 5.5%.

It suits TypeScript teams that want agent code in their own repo rather than a no-code builder. I did not build an agent with it, and I did not verify the open source license terms, so check those on the site.

Who it's for

Best for

  • TypeScript and Node developers building production AI agents who want observability and evals alongside the code.

Not ideal for

  • Non-developers
  • Python-first teams
  • or anyone who wants a visual agent builder.

How we tested

AppsInsight desk research by Deepika Pandey, October 5, 2026. Sources: mastra.ai and mastra.ai/pricing. I did not build or deploy an agent; features and prices are as published by Mastra. License terms not verified.
